Momentum, the Grace Chapel evangelism team, meets as necessary to plan an outreach event and share ideas for reaching our world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. All Gracers are welcome to join us for our monthly outreach event (you don't need to be a team member).

If you are a Gracer with a heart for the lost and believe that God is calling you to serve on the Momentum team, contact Pastor Cameron.

If you are a Gracer making kingdom impact we want to know! It is important to keep tabs on how things are going. Success stories are something we can all celebrate and they provide the encouragement we all need to stay focused on the task at hand. Also, if that salvation decision took place outside of Grace Chapel, then that new believer isn't likely to have received our New Believer's Kit. So, please let me know and I will help you make sure they get one. Email works best because there is so much hapening on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights, that if you simply tell me about it I may drop the ball by the time I am able to get to a place where I can write it down. Anchor Groups

The most direct way you could disciple someone is in an Anchor Group. Simply, agree to meet with one or two others on a weekly basis for about an hour. Spend time sharing what each of you are learning and what your are doing with what you learn. A popular strategy is to have everyone in the group follow the same "Read Your Bible in a Year" schedule, like the one in our Journal. That way you all come to the meeting having read the same parts of your Bible every week. Also, others can join at anytime and not be behind. After, the group reaches more than a few, you should split the group, this will also be accomodated by the reading plan. Be sure that one of the people in the group is a mature believer.

What do I do after someone gives their life to Christ?

If you share the gospel with someone and pray with them to accept Jesus as their savior, or if someone tells you that they prayed the prayer already, then here are some "next steps".

First, be sure they get a "New Believers" package. We will have them under the front pews for the Altar Ministry Teams and available at Guest Services for everyone. That package has a special Connect Card. That card has the prayer that we use at Grace to lead pre-Christains to Christ, it also has an area for them to fill out with their basic contact info. If they do that and return it to the Go Fish Media store, they will receive a new Bible, and DVD.

The package also contains a bookmark with a 30 day new believer Bible reading schedule, a mini-journal, an invitation to our New Believer's class, and a Small Group directory.

After that, you can help them realize the finer points of the Grace Chapel mission statement;

The most involved method of discipling a new believer would be to lead an Anchor Group. This helps avoid making converts instead of disciples. Barna Research studies indicate that most Christians stop growing after just two years. If a more mature Christain walks along side of someone for that long, they would both be more likely to grow and continue growing.

What do I do if someone says, "I'm ready to give my life to Christ?"

If someone tells you that they are ready to give their life to Christ, then pray with them. Here is a sample prayer:

Father God, I need you in my life.
I believe you sent your son, Jesus, to die for my sins and then raised him from the dead.
I have sinned and I am truly sorry. Please forgive me.
I receive your gifts of forgiveness and eternal life.
I surrender my life to you and give you full control.
Send your Holy Spirit to help me serve you from now on.
Thank you for welcoming me into your family and giving me a new start.
In the name of Jesus, amen.

Where to start is a great question. Aside, from the obvious people God has placed around you, like friends, family and co-workers, there are other opportunities to share your faith.

It is always a good idea to check our Evangelism Calendar to see what opportunities there are for evangelism training as well as events when we plan to go outside the church to serve and share our faith with others.

How can I share my faith and explain the gospel to someone?

There is no short answer to this question. The key is to reach out and not freak out. Also, have a basic outline in your head to keep you focused during what can be more like a collection of digressions than a conversation. You can get primer on both by clicking HERE.
